So today the six of us went to hike Boulder River and its associated canyon. Boulder River is located in the North Cascades and isn't too far from Woodinville. Jared and Kristina love the canyon because it represents the Pacific Northwest (BIG trees, rivers, waterfalls, canopied trails, etc...) It is a really cool hike and wilderness area. There are trees that have NEVER been cut down, so they are huge and larger than you can even imagine. Here's the sign at the beginning of the trail...
A perfect example of one of the HUGE trees. Maisie, Rhett, and Kristina look miniature in comparison with the tree roots and tree trunk!
After you climb down to the bottom of the canyon, the waterfalls are magnificent.
Rhett checking out the river and the waterfall. He is probably looking for fish in the river.
Rhett, Kristina, and Maisie posing for a picture as George and Stephanie descend into the canyon to meet us.
Rhett, Maisie, and Stephanie posing with an excellent backdrop!
In addition to the happy people, we also had a happy dog! Indy had a blast swimming in the river and hiking the trail! She is a hiking dog, that's for sure!
More scenic views...

This tree fell over the trail, so a portion of it was cut out to clear the trail. Since we are in a wilderness area, they had to do this with a HAND SAW! Can you imagine? It is difficult to see, but there are pins in the tree for every 100 years (Maisie is pointing at one). This tree was more than 500 years old...
Maisie keeping pace with Jared and Indy on the trail!
Crossing a really cool bridge.
George and Rhett posing with their walking sticks! What a twosome!

It was a great day!
