An Unexpected Oncology Vist

By the time today arrived, Indy's leg was even more swollen than it had been.  This made both Jared and Kristina a little uneasy.  Ever since the vet visit on Sunday, we had been following the ER vet's directions precisely (more walks, but shorter; heat applications).  So, Jared called the oncology department and asked what they advised.

Considering that she was supposed to go in on Wednesday (23rd) for her next round of chemo, they thought it best to bring her into the office.  So Jared loaded her up and took her into the office.  They measured all of her lymph nodes, did her blood work, and did a complete physical exam and came to the conclusion that she had an infection in her leg.  It was likely caused from the cut in her pad that we discovered on Saturday and since her immune system is compromised from the chemo, it took hold of her.  So, they prescribed two antibiotics and postponed her next chemo treatment until the 30th.  We were still waiting on her MDR genetic test results anyway, so it was an easy decision.

Hopefully we can push through this infection and get on with the chemo.
