Winthrop -- Day 3

On Saturday, we decided to head to the Twisp River area (Kristina's choice).  The Twisp River is a very scenic area and highly recommended.  It wasn't at all busy for a Saturday (we assumed everyone was in town playing soccer -- that's another story), and we had the area for the most part to ourselves.

We started the morning at Cinnamon Twisp Bakery, located in Twisp.  Again, this is NOT a bad way to start the day.  Kristina had a mocha and the Cinnamon Twisp while Jared had a hot chocolate and the Cinnamon Twisp.  The Cinnamon Twisp was nothing like we have tasted before, but it was the perfect blend of flavors.  And apparently it was a happening place because right after we arrived, tons a kids in their soccer uniforms showed up.  Whew!  We missed that crowd literally by 2 minutes.

After breakfast we headed out to a trailhead to hike.  Here's the parking lot...you can't see it, but there are only FOUR cars in the lot including us.

It was a very nice hike and through the Lake Chelan Sawtooth Wilderness, we didn't see anyone until we were on our way back to the truck for lunch.

Kristina and Indy hiking on the trail.  As you can see the trail was mostly shady, but it was warm enough to build up a sweat that's for sure.  And Indy was panting...she wanted to go down to the river, but we were elevated from the river, so she would have to wait.

Mommy shared her water with Indy though and kept her hydrated.  Indy is a pro at drinking out of the Camelbak packs!  Her big brother never quite mastered it, but she did early on in life!

Lots of waterfalls along the trail and a cool view down to the river.

A few cool shots of a peak in the background...

Indy re-charging while she is patiently waiting for us to take photos.  What a good little dog!

It was a nice hike and an enjoyable lunch next to the river.  Indy got to take her dips in the river to cool off the "hot dog".  After loading up, we did take one more stop along the road in...Kristina say it on the way to the trailhead and wanted to stop.  It was very nice scenery and the river always sounds so nice.

You drive over this culvert...it is HUGE!

As we have been doing the entire trip, we headed back to the house, did some afternoon fishing, and then headed to dinner.  This time we went to the Old Schoolhouse Brewery in Winthrop.  Again, a very cool place.  It had a view of the river and live music.  The food was really good pub food.  And oddly enough, Jared had a beer and Kristina had a cider.  Wow, we must be on vacation!
