Happy New Year!
We lucked out again this year, we had a sunny and dry New Year's Day! This doesn't happen much in our neck of the woods; however, just because it is sunny and dry, doesn't mean that it is especially warm. Even on this day the highs were only between 40-45, but us Washingtonians think this is a GREAT day to go hiking in January!
So, we headed over to our favorite spot -- the Tolt River in Carnation, WA. It is one of our favorites because you can make it as long or as short as you want, the scenery is great, and Indy gets to go SWIMMING. And yes, she still swims this time of year!

A look upstream from Indy's favorite swimming hole. We actually walked across this bridge to continue our hike.
Here's a shot of the clear water in the river...
Indy post-swimming!
This picture is a bit blurry, but you can see the water droplets in the air -- it was an action photo.
Indy staring at Kristina...waiting for a treat. Indy knows that Kristina is the keeper of all dog biscuits on the walk!
Walking along the trail...notice that there is no one else on the trail!
Or should we say, "dragging Kristina along the trail". Indy decided to drag Kristina in this photo because Jared ran ahead to take the picture and she didn't want to be left out of the running!
This is just a shot of some of our scenery along the hike. Kristina really liked the low cloud hanging in the valley. In the summer time, the crop in the field is blueberries!
